Building structures has always required tools, hardware, equipment, and hands-on construction experience and skills. It has made building time-consuming, expensive, and available only to those who have the skillset.
But, what if it didn’t have to be that way? This question is what launched the AptumBuild housing solution. Designed by innovative engineers from Ford Motor, Tesla, Rivian, etc. This idea bold question sparked an idea that has now turned into a cutting-edge technology geared at solving the housing affordability crisis in the US and abroad.
2019: Bill Schofield and the AptumBuild team started with an idea – can we build homes without tools, hardware, and construction experience? The answer turned out to be yes.
2020: The first prototype 8′ x 8′ structure created
Prototype Phase
In the first half of 2020, AptumBuild created the first prototype 8′ x 8′ structure. The modularized system worked exactly as imagined – it was easy to build, no tools needed or construction experience. The panels clicked into place. And the building was strong and durable. Looks like we have a winner. Score!
Production Time!
After winning the best new commercialized product at the 2022 IBS (International Builder Show), it was time to start production. With a few rounds of funding, operations opened up and the first units were delivered in 2022.
As the awareness of the product has grown, so too has the demand. As the housing affordability crisis escalates, our solution is primed to provide much-needed relief. Also as awareness has grown, so too have the use cases. Tiny homes and ADUs, camping, hunting, storage, workforce housing, and military housing are a few industries that have shown keen interest.
